Our Story: Two Companies, One Shared Vision

Our roots run deep in the arboriculture industry. Our owners, Tony and Chris, originally started their own separate tree care businesses — Tony in 2009 and Chris in 2011. Over the years, they found themselves frequently sharing information, tools, and a mutual vision for what a premier tree care company should look like.

In 2019, they officially partnered up and merged their companies to form Expert Tree Service & Science. The driving force behind this merger was simple: they both wanted to deliver incredibly high-quality arboricultural services, prioritize key customer communication, and maintain the highest safety standards in the industry.

Today, our team has grown to 16 full-time employees, including 13 highly trained crew members, a dedicated sales professional, and our outstanding office staff.

Our Mission: The Science of Tree Care & Client Education

When we say "Science," we mean it. We do not just blindly cut branches or remove trees without a second thought. We are incredibly passionate about education — both for our own crew and for our clients.

Our mission is to help educate you on your tree care options using clear, honest advice and science-based solutions. Whether we are diagnosing a complex fungal disease or executing a highly technical structural pruning, we want you to understand why we are doing it.

Our Core Values

When you hire Expert Tree Service & Science, you are inviting professionals onto your property who operate by a strict set of core values:

  • Communication First: From the moment you request an estimate to the day the job is completed, we prioritize clear, fast, and consistent communication.
  • Professionalism & Respect: We treat your yard as if it were our own. We do not tolerate recklessness, and we guarantee that your lawn will be left cleaner than when we arrived.
  • 100% Accountability: We take full ownership of our work. If something breaks or goes wrong on your property, we will tell you immediately and fix it, no questions asked.
  • Approachable & Honest: We are a down-to-earth, friendly team fully invested in doing the right thing for you and your trees.

Jason Rasmussen Sales Manager, MN

I began my career in the tree industry 20 years ago. Starting out in an entry-level position, I quickly realized how important this ever-evolving industry really is. I became skilled at tree climbing, and competed at the local tree climbing competitions where I placed in the top 10 two years in a row.

I climbed my way through the ranks and became an ISA Certified Arborist in 2009. I also earned a CTSP (Certified Tree Care Safety Professional) and achieved various leadership positions. I'm now the Sales Manager for Expert Tree Service, and take great pride in working directly with clients.

I enjoy spending time with my family, going to classic car shows, and camping out on the ice fishing for Walleyes.
